4 Seasons - Winter

White and clean it fell.
Soft, silent, cold.
It numbs the sound
As it numbs your fingers.
The softest crunch,
New marks on and untouched canvass.
Disappointing imperfections.

School closed for the day,
The children play.
Frozen fingers and soggy toes.
Throwing and rolling
This solid rain
Laughing and crying
Hit again.

The brightness blinds
Horizon missing.
The sky so white.
Slipping on ice
Black and hidden.
Smooth like glass, deadly
Danger with every footstep.

Hot chocolate
A welcome smell.
Mothers shout to deafened children.
Commuters in cars
Missing out on the fun
Grumble and curse
As they slide in first.
