A Certain Man

I am now fully informed and
have taken control of the situation.
I wait for you in the foyer,
of the Grand Hotel,

You will come,
I know you will.
I met your lover- introduced myself.
He had already booked a room,
but he gave me the key
and no argument. He understood
and left quietly. It was oddly civilised
in the circumstances.

I am certain that
I have everything under control.

There's a taxi.
Is it you? Yes it is.
You half turn to the doorman, smile thanks,
adjust your hair, so lovely.
Confident, practiced saunter
to the receptionist.
"Yes Madam, room 812".
Eyes devour your procession to the lift,
you smile again, excitedly, in anticipation
and complete happiness.

In 812 you will find a brief note
which says, "no lover tonight and
for the future make a decision.
I am going home to wait for that decision".

But, now uncertain,
For I have seen the joy of your betrayal.
