A Winters Whisper

A winters call from far away
will call to her to hear her say
a whisper dark, to dark to see
a joy to loud, to loud to be.

A winter breeze will touch her skin
another kiss and a fire within
a flick of her hair and a last good-bye
will leave this one man with one great sigh.

A snowflake to melt upon her cheek
red rosy circles, no white to seek
lips as red as her own blood
her body falls with a silent thud.

Ice collects at her winter cold eyes
telling the world of one to many lies
her lips they part in passing pain
listeners will ponder if she truly was sane.

Winter takes hold of her fingers cold
lying in her place, not growing a single day old
winter takes hold of her ebony black hair
and her red satin dress is beginning to tare.

Birds cry at the foot of her grave
leaves fall upon her body to save
and a sorrow filled tune from the nightingale's cry
is at last what helps their bonds to tie.

Stuck in a past, a winters whisper away
does she sing and to the beat sway
in her last night, of life she held dear
did she then give away her one happy tear?

A winters call from far away
will call to her to hear her say
a whisper dark, to dark to see
a joy to loud, to loud to be.
