At Hiccup Rock

the only footprints were deer,
and some sort loon wide like fingers
three spread as though
standing but walking
as evidence from the line
of cousin prints
posing in a strip
with invisible and visible spirit
near the famous stone
so named this day

gray and half naked
almost blackened
by shadow
wanting nothing
if rocks can want
at all
