Doodle Dandy - Walker

Doodle Dandy – Walker.
Danny Walker's gone to town,
Gone to see his Granny.
Brief respite for mom and dad,
Dandy Danny Walker.

No feathers stuck in Danny's cap,
No macaronied fancy.
A head too big for any hat,
Danny Dandy - Walker.

Granny put him down to sleep,
Loves her darling Danny.
Despite herself, she laid him down,
To sleep for a new dawning.

Cold that night the chill crept in
window Granny opened.
Witness to her mortal sin,
Danny's Granny Walker.

In the morning Danny's gone,
gone to meet his maker.
Respite in grief for mom and dad,
But none for Granny Walker.

The nights are cold so bitter cold,
no rest for Granny Walker.
Haunted for love of Danny boy,
But no one comes to take her.
