Face in the Mirror

i look in the mirror
and this is what i see
i see eyes that are dark with pain, confusion and lonliness
eyes that are older than their time
greiving over a childhood stolen from her
i see a face that shows fear
fear of failing, fear of rejection
fear of forever being alone
and never feeling loved again
i see a lost scared child
that had to grow up too fast
a child that wants to be loved
and have someone make everything alright
i see a woman
starved for affection and recognition
a woman that wants to give her heart
but is afraid of the pain involved
i look in the mirror and this is what i see
eyes filled with sadness, pain and regret
the eyes belong to me
then my eyes catch a glimpse
of another face in the mirror
one of understanding and sympathy, courage and trust
a face of kindness and sweetness
a face of a friend, a confidant
and most of all....
a face that radiates love
the other face in the mirror is you
thought miles seperate us, and circumstances keep us apart
you will always be in the mirror
encouraging me, scolding me
giving me the strength i need to get thru the day
always near, even though so far away
