For my Wife Sam
We have been together when the galaxies were still young
Many times together
Longer than earth times
We swore we would be together forever, and help each other in times of need if we wandered
Our love is so strong, it cannot be broken by anything here
We could not make each other happy here, in these bodies, this way
It does not make our love less.
It only means we have lost our way.
Another day, another life, we will meet again.
And we will know the truth of that.
This lifetime, I remember how we ate fish from earthenware plates,
How you laughed at the crumbled money and pieces of paper in my pockets,
And teased me about my rumpled improperly folded clothing.
I remember your simple joy when you got something you wanted,
I remember how you floated instead of walking and filled rooms with light.
And how I picked you up when you were sad, listening, always listening. And how you listened to me.
We will shed these bodies soon enough,
A blink in the span of time, no more,
And I know that as the time wheel turns,
Our love will ever endure
