                side of a tree trunk
         -- squirrel

             in darkness
         prokofiev?  shostakovich?
               easy to tell
         a mile is a mile is
         a mile  always --
         tell it my knees

                   beer
                then no chess   only
                          haiku

     cold rain --
     in the pond in my head
       basho's frog
            a forest path --
            Jim and dog
            stop at different trees
        
                ducklings in the pond --
                no children sign
                at the renting office

       outdoor dance
       i walked away from her
       dogshit on my shoe

                hard fight in the corner
                of GO board--I see
                baby Shamu
            stretching -- head
            speeding on the internet highways
            the butt glued to the chair
