I, Me, Mine

I, me, mine
The culture of America today
The pervasive attitude of the elite
Trickling down to the masses
We were the land of opportunity

I, me, mine
On every corner in every town
Mind-numbing media promotion
Love of money; the root of all evil
The sickened soul of a dying democracy

Some declare it as the new morality
Some wear it proudly like a badge
Some say it’s their right as an American
Most just accept the illness as it is
I, me, mine; I, me, mine

To think we have gone so sour
You see it in every aspect of our society
We’re losing our humanity!
Or have we lost it already?
I, me, mine; I, me, mine

I, me, mine
Corporate profiteers running our country
The callous lies of a failed leadership
Controlling us with fear of terrorism
Paralyzed sheople quaking in the corner

I, me, mine
It grows stronger every day
The idolatry of the dollar
The wanton desire for power
The oath of neo-cons
The breath of ignorance
The selfishness of the land

I, me, mine
Go ahead, shout it to the world
As you speed headlong towards its destruction
Do nothing to stop the course we are on
Sit and wait for it to resolve itself
Watch your rights eroded away
Observe the coming of Armageddon

“I am not the problem. It’s the poor and destitute”
“Me? No, it’s not me! It’s same-sex marriage!”
“It’s not mine! Don’t look at me! I didn’t make this mess!”

I, me, mine; I, me, mine
It’s time to take action!
Where is your voice?
Stop the carnage and destruction!
Will you just sit there and let it happen?
Wake up! Save the world!
