In His Presence

In moments like these when my heart beats like a thousand drums
The words that so desperately want to come out, fail me

The only thing that tells me that I am still here instead of the cloud that calls my name
Is the reality of blood rushing endlessly through my veins, pounding loudly in mine ears

But I find comfort in this uncontrollable confusion as it is felt at his feet
Knowing that above all else, he knows the words that I can not speak

Perhaps it is in the wild thumping of my heart apparent in the pulse of collared neck
Perhaps in the blush that rises to mine cheek whenever he deems fit to gaze upon me
Perhaps in the hushed whisper of my voice begging to serve his will
Perhaps, even, it is in the knowledge that above all others, he knows me best

When I find myself in his presence, all else fails and fades away
The only thing I can see is the encouragement of his smile and the look upon his face
And the misty cloud of confusion lifts as I know that I am where I belong

Does he know? These words reverberate again and again in my head
Will he make complete the promise that I see in his eye?

I try to tell myself that it matters not ... but it does
In time, I pray, that he too will feel this surge of devotion that wells up within me
Until then ... I simply obey
