Learning to Let Go

I see you standing there,
With that look upon your face.
You keep taking me back,
To another time and place.

When you and I were lovers,
Forever until the end.
I needed you beside me,
But you broke my heart again.

I say that I love you,
You turn the other way.
Does it make you nervous,
Or is it too much to say.

I want for you to hold me,
Tell me it’s all right.
If you do not love me,
I won’t put up a fight.

It doesn’t make a difference,
You ignore me one last time.
Whenever I turn to you,
I feel I’m committing a crime.

Wanting to let go,
Still holding on.
I cannot walk away,
From a love I feel so strong.

Captivated by your every move,
Mesmerized by your eyes.
If only I could remember,
All your arrogance and lies.

You put on me a spell,
I fall for you again.
Giving everything to you,
Losing all my friends.

But no more shall I hide,
Behind the shadows and the mystery.
I’m learning to let go,
And now you are my history.
