Leaving trails

Listless sands and planes of the heat,
remain My friends and take Me
to that quiet place
where once again I can be Me
alone and resplendent,
sustaining the flow  and gaining awareness

who is the mirror who shines back
who is the lazy spiral of the eagle as it turns

My eyes deceived me
nay no eagles, nor shrikes, nor a bird of prey
just the common fallow ones
eaters of carrion and wandering souls

Take from me and gain the knowledge,
Take and  be strong, take and grow
who will ever hold your countenance

Splits in the dried out husks of verdant trees,
the leaves of the pipal      blown across the lips
a rasping sound, like snakes slithering to Me
My own come home to roost      Yet again
