Misfortune

Intense rush of pain, threatening sanity
Overwhelming emotions, strangely familiar,
Cunning and quick, in structure,
Its hold is fixed, squeezing hard.
Inner self wrung dry of soul.
Betrayal, mistrust, frequent partners
Shadowing mortals, controlling in manner, it's
Concealed on sidelines, for a sign to come near.
Marks of misuse, plentiful in form
Erratic feelings, cynical and wary, are
Incited to respond in actions, extreme and intense.

Shed tears fall, drawing lines of grief,
Excessive emotions flood.
Easing, slowing, weak and tired,
Now silent, and drained, craving slumber.
Immediate changes learnt from lessons
Strength and defence takes place of sadness.
Continuation of existence, answers back with vigour,
Fight that flickers, eyes positive with glow.
Guides to a path of realism, at times repetitive,
Gathering wisdom, ever-present.
Learning by past inaccuracies, survival continues on.
