Muse II

I believe that deep within us
Is a sea that’s deep and wide
And as time and nature molds us
So our sea evolves inside

And if we are not careful
All too soon our well is dry
And the sea that once was endless
It will shrink, then it will die

As it dies we too will wither
For in truth what’s in will out
Till at last there’s only whisper
Where at first there was a shout

Keep an open mind, kind stranger
For this surely could be true
And examine yourself closely
In case it’s happening to you

Deep within the vast dry desert
That my ravaged heart became
Lay a ribbon of blue water
Lay a green and verdant plain

So far distant was this vision
It was hidden by my shame
I knew not that it existed
Nor that water did remain

Now that desert is a jungle
Filled with wildlife, filled with trees
and that ribbon of blue water
Now holds lush and vital seas

You might wonder, being curious
How this magic change was wrought
Listen on, oh weary stranger
Here’s the tale that you sought

Here the story told quite simply
But with images, bright to see
That describe the vision splendid
When my Muse, she came to me
