My Secret Place

Purple-strewn colors filter in with the light
That shines down in an arch of color
Bathing thick beds of clover upon my bed

Cool sheets beckon me forth into their softness
To dream of childhood dreams that linger on
In the cobwebs of my sleepy mind

The gentle thumping of the Hampton fan overhead
Lulls me into that calming place within my soul
Drifting me into the soothing caress of the sun’s rays

The dark screen of my Panasonic, the silence of my DVD
Unable to invade this solitude just for me
Locked behind doors that keep out distress

The flicker of candlelight accentuates soft aromas
That waft upon the slight breeze
Enfolding me in its comforting embrace

This haven captured in one moment of my day
Apart from the hassles that wait beyond my door
One more moment stolen in my secret place
