Ocean as Life

Always, I've been a stranger
to Others, and even to myself
I do not understand things as Others
see them.
I know, & they know...
yet;
I cannot admit it
Perhaps, to admit would be
to Understand.

Always, I search for truth,
for meaning, for belief –
however,
these do not always lie in the same bed
nor are they
the two sides of the one coin.

One night — dark velvet pulled down
I pace in the shadowroom
by the sea --
The waves surge and pound
in and out, back and forth,
in the unceasing
and timeless
rhythm...

So it is on the shadowroom bed.
Here were Others before, and
would be again.

She and He —
She, pale ivory thighs gleaming
in light of the moon ...
forsaking all others until death do us part;

He, black as the night,
nameless, important only physically
but just a symbol
--of what knows.

They know nothing but themselves
--and that only physically–
yet, I know them both
the rise and the fall
the surge and retreat;
in and out, back and forth,
in the unceasing
and timeless
rhythm.

All course through me
as through them...

There in the velvety-textured
hollow breathing – I am them both–

Now,
all is sibilant silence
soft motions as the waves
glide silver-like across
patterned sand;
I listen to the ragged breathing,
their motion stops,
but Ocean never does.

I walk down velvety-textured sand
gently gleaming silver waves
caress like warm silk, softly, softly
They invite to the motion
of Life –
unceasing and sure.

So, I let the circle search
and caress
and fulfill —

I wade; and now I understand....
