Poem to a love far away

I am looking at you sleeping my eyes are on your belly
It looks like it is growing as I see the baby moving
Your skin is rippling slowly as he moves around inside you
I touch you and I feel him as you begin to come awake
I have often thought and wondered just how I did without you
I almost can’t remember or really do not want to
And though this baby 's not mine and you are far away
I have never felt so close to anyone as I do to you

And the day is slowly ending and I am leaving for the weekend
I begin to count the minutes that it will take till I am with you
And though I have to share you, It doesn't matter to me
Because I know you love me just as much as I love you
The baby's movements wake you, your eyes they open slowly
bells are ringing somewhere as you embrace my distant touch
