Shallow Descent

Swimming in a pool of apathy,
Overflowing with hypocrisy,
Wallowing in hatred and genocide,
Virtue clinging fast to the outgoing tide,
Loss of all reason and compassion,
Chop off the humble man’s head and marinate it in sin.
Fixated with chaos and crime,
No one realizes that we’re coming up short on time.
Never questioning that pre-conceived notion,
Still plummeting towards our own destruction,
Watching our own people die,
Struggling to steal a piece of their pie.
