Sides of Love.. Light

Pure, is a word that comes to mind.

my love for you isn't tainted with conditions
or restrictions
or limits.

it is what it is, deep and ever-evolving and simply there
it isn't choice on my part, i wouldn't have chosen it, you understand
but there it is, this love for you.

it's not sexual, always
it doesn't want anything in return
it loves you best when you're human
and cranky
and full of things

my love for you extends beyond what we have
and flows into loving things you don't always see

i love the darkness inside you, because it's yours
i love that you're honest with me.
you don't make promises
you don't pretend to tell me everything.
You make me laugh.

my love for you, gold and liquid, thick, metallic, beautiful and scary
(you can die of gold poisoning, and of vulnerability)
slides through me and settles the fear that sometimes catches me
(waiting for the other shoe to fall)
loving you both stirs and calms my soul.

you do have the power to hurt me, if you want to, or if you need to, or if it just happens
and still my love for you will be what it is, and not change.

and lest you think i'm confused, i do know the difference
between love and infatuation
and the obsession which has lessened with time, and growth
and the desire, which has not.

i love you like flowers, yellow and red and white in green fields
i love you like snow angels
and swimming pools
and lollipops
and laughing during sex

i love you like ice cream and
like fast boats and big blocks
like good poetry
("even if i now / saw you only once i would / long for you through worlds")
like white burgundy
like basking in the sun

with happy grins and silly giggles
with silly string and paperclips
and little-girl devotion
i love you.
