Under a stainless-steel gray sky,
a scouring rain and the forgone nigh;
Shattered memories in freeze frame
out of sequence: ashes to flames.
Shadows weeping in silent rooms
beckon the night and call down the moon.
From the distance, a keening knell:
Fallen angels, tears from a bell.
Crouched forms, enshrouded in sorrow,
like lingering hopes for the morrow
whose fire-blinded eyes still see,
through fever dreams, days yet to be.
Dimly, as through a mist revealed:
grim, silent crows over a wheat field.
A black depression given form.
Hearth, home, love and life...
All forsworn.
All forsworn.
