Terra Incognita

The smell of soft, long hair, your lazy smile,
The unsaid hopes and fears that charge the air
Can but impede my speech for fear of changing
This tender balance that’s so seldom there.

Not yet quite certain of the situation
Nor of ourselves we carefully explore
Each other’s limits, hesitantly smiling,
Each time a little bolder than before –

Amazed at how our fingertips are able
To pass our feelings on, with greatest care,
We travel all white places on the map,
As gradually more and more’s laid bare

And each discovery’s a new delight:
Your supple body close against my breast,
Your fingers on my buttocks and your tongue
That tells me without words what you like best

Until I find – at last within my reach -
The invitation of your sweating skin
That leads us to the silent pool of time
We, locked together, will be drowning in.
