The Enchanted Daffodil

The Enchanted Daffodil

The ground still hard and cold give this life to spring
Slowly emerging, delightful and bright
Daffodils take over the winters earth
One here, twelve there, random patches of  yellow glow
Mother Nature's innocent little smile to the world

They suffer torrential rains and late season snows
Only to stand proud as they reach for the sun
Twirling in the wind they wink to those who care
These simple blooms prelude the glorious gardens of summer
Ignore them, forget them, they always return

Most men will send roses and innocently so
Next time, perhaps the enchanted daffodil
A unique present to send someone you appreciate and cherish
Watch her expression reflect the beauty of this flower
Each spring she'll glow as she's reminded of her gift from you
