The Gift

Too often in life, we live it alone;
Going through each day in a daze;
One day simply becoming the next
all blending in a murky gray haze.

Then life throw you a curve, one most unexpected,
and into your life they appear.
A special someone enters in without warning, without knowing,
And the changes they bring become clear.

Your rainbows are brighter, your flowers smell sweeter
and each bird has a voice from above;
The sunshine feel like it caresses your skin
all for the knowing of love.

No person is perfect, nor expected to be,
we all have our faults to be sure;
But when that special someone arrives in your life,
The faults pale in the light of the pure.

You know that the person, both with assets and faults
touches you where most others won't tread;
You learn that each fault once examined up close,
Your heart turns to an asset instead.

Letting your heart feel emotions so deep,
is always a risky thing;
But so is going through life never letting yourself,
Hear what the birds have to sing.
