What Will You Remember

When Mom and Dad are gone,
what will you remember?
Will you remember the good times?
or
Will you remember all the senseless fighting
and bickering?

When Mom and Dad are gone,
Who will you have to blame?
Will you take responsibility for
what you have done?
or
Will you blame someone else?

I will remember all the good times,
all the camping trips
and outings.
I will remember the way they smiled,
and the way they laughed
as they watched the grand kids
all play together.

I’ll remember the trips we took
and the things we did
together and the
things we saw.
And I’ll remember all the Love
they had for us.

I’ll remember the tears they cried
because their kids could not
some how work things out.
I’ll remember the pain in their eyes and the
hurt in their hearts caused by
the fighting of their kids.

When I remember these things
I’ll cry. Not for them
as much as for all
of you, the ones that can not
see all the hurt and pain you have caused.
When Mom and Dad are gone,
What will you remember?

Will you take the time before
it is too late,
to try and mend the hurt
and pain?

Will you ever be able to say;
I’m sorry?
Will you even take the time
to try and understand
how the other person feels?

Will you ever be able to understand
the unconditional Love
that Mom and Dad have for us all?
Or
Is that something you refuse
to even try to understand?

I know that none of us are perfect,
but when we are wrong
or know we are hurting someone
we should be able to stop
before we say things that can never
be taken back.

Words hurt more then any
broken bone ever could.
They stay with us forever.
They not only hurt the ones they are aimed at
but they hurt all of us,
especially our children.

I pray that one day,
before it is too late,
we can all once more be a family.
One that can spend time
together with Mom and Dad
before they are gone!
