4/19/24 Chapter 4 One of the challenges I have with this project is the lengthy narrative passages. I prefer to tell a story through the voices of my characters in scenes with dialogue. I find narrative storytelling can drag, especially if the writer is overly descriptive, telling the reader every little detail at length. Worldbuilding is a slow read if it’s not broken into pieces. That is just my opinion, yours may vary. So, I gave Kat a few allies to discuss the case with. This led to another problem, Kat telling her story and facts of the case to multiple characters. At times it feels repetitive to me. I did my best to cut back, but it’s still there. The next chapter, number five, is one of the most descriptive pieces I’ve ever written. I hope it doesn’t drag. It’s done in a long scene with plenty of dialogue. I hope it works.
