Katja Pt. 13

Erik handed her back and Katja rocked them while purring to them. Erik sat on the bed and watched as his mate rocked their children to sleep. As she said, it didn't take long for them to fall asleep more or less the same way she did after a full meal. She rocked them for a little longer and then motioned for Erik to take one of them, He came over and took Geoff from her, then she stood and carried their daughter to the crib they had in the room. She placed her in, the took Geoff and put him in also. They moved around a bit then they held to each other and smiled as they purred softly. Katja smiled and slipped a light blanket over them. Then they quietly walked out and into the living room.

The others looked up as they saw them come out and Ariel grinned asking, "They go out for their post-meal nap?"

Katja smiled, "Yes, just like we do."

Everyone grinned at that as it seemed to a species trait. They sat down to relax for a bit, then Cleo came over and jumped up into Erik's lap. She stood and meowed at him, quickly looked over to the bedroom and then meowed once more.

Erik smiled, "Their sleeping right now love, they'll be alright. But if it makes you feel better, you can go in and keep an eye on them."

Cleo meowed again and patted his cheek, then licked him. Then she padded over to Katja and climbed in her lap. She patted Katja and licked her, then meowed cocking her head.

Cleo: "Our human is getting better at understanding."

Katja: "Yes, I think he is. Thank you for wanting to stay with them and watch over them."

Cleo: "Your welcome, they are our family and I think you two could use a little rest. I will curl up on the bed and listen for the little ones to wake, then I'll come get you."

Katja: "Thank you love. That is very thoughtful of you."

Cleo purred at her and then jumped down to make her way into the bedroom to watch over the little ones.

Erik grinned at her watching as she made her way to the bedroom. Katja took his hand, "She thinks you starting to understand more my love."

Erik smiled, "Well, that one was pretty self-explanatory I thought."

Katja scooted over and hugged his arm before kissing him. "She though we looked like we needed some rest."

Erik stroked her face, "Well, I'm all right, but you could probably use it."

Katja looked at him and kissed him again, "I'm fine love, I don't understand why you think I'd be tired or need so much help? Granted I like when you do, but I'm fine."

Erik looked at her, "Well, you just gave birth to twins my love. That didn't affect you?"

Katja smiled at him, "Sure, for a little while, but that's all over now, I'm back to the way I was before."

Erik looked at her, "Your sure love? A human would be out of sorts for days."

Katja caressed his face, "No love, we're not like that. We're back to normal in hours how else could we take care of them once they've been born."

Helen said, "Katja, I think the problem is that maybe you don't understand how humans give birth. A friend of mine was in labor for ten hours before she delivered one child, and there is a lot of pain associated with it for us. So, it tends to wipe us out for a day or two and the nurses take care of the baby during its time in the hospital except for feedings. That's why it hard for him to understand."

Katja shivered as she listened, to take that long to deliver would be hard. She nodded her understanding.'

Then Helen smiled again, "I think it's because we carry the babies for nine months and when ours are born, they're almost twice the size of my niece and nephew."

Katja nodded, her understanding. "Your probably right Helen, our children grow faster than human children. They also have more, I'm not sure of the word, they have more abilities than human children of the same age. They'll grow fast in the first two to three months, they'll be walking in about five or six weeks and start to talk. They know the language but their vocal cords still need to mature before the can talk coherently, in our language of course, I'm not sure about English. I've been teaching them this last month."

Just then, Erik's phone rang and he picked it up and smiled, "It's Celia love." He answered it and put it on speaker. "Hello Celia, I have you on speaker." He heard her laugh, "Congratulations you two, I would have called you sooner, but I thought I'd give you a little bit of time for everything to calm down. How are you?"

Erik grinned, "We're fine, Katja is here with me along with Ariel, Tony, Helen and Azlan."

She laughed again, "Ah, a full house I see. And how are the twins?"

Katja grinned replying, "They're napping right now, they just finished eating."

"That's wonderful," Celia replied. "Now are you going to keep me in suspense? Or are you going to tell me what you named them?"

Katja smiled, "Our son is named Geoff and our daughter is named, Brigitte." They are both healthy, beautiful and a joy to us."

Celia was silent for a minute. "That is marvelous my dears. The Goddess must be happy for your choice of your daughter's name as is your Uncle. As I gather your son is name after him."

Erik smiled, "Yes She is, She thanked us for it as did our uncle."

He heard the delight in her voice as she answered, "Very good, I'll be stopping over tomorrow, I wish to bless them and you two also."

Erik smiled, "Thank you Celia, so are Jack and the family and Axel and his. Lucy told them after she was told and said she was told she needed to be here also."

Celia chuckled, "Yes, I sort of thought she would be considering the ramifications of their birth."

"Well then, I will see you tomorrow sometime late morning." Celia continued. "I need to take care of a few things, but I wanted to call while I had a chance. I love you both and I can't wait to see you both."

Erik and Katja both said they loved her also, then he shut off his phone. He turned to Katja and pulled her to him to hug her. "It's going to be busy my love. You up to all this attention?"

She stroked his and kissed him. "I guess so." Then she giggled, "Maybe it's better to get it over at one time so we can get back to our nice quite life."

Erik smiled and hugged her, "I guess your right. Well at least it's only family."

Cleo had jumped up on the bed and laid there in a good imitation of the Sphinx to watch over their little ones. She was happy and couldn't wait for the day they would be old enough to play with her. As she laid there in a sort of a half-doze, she thanked who or whatever had led her to her human's place that cold wet night.

In their crib, the twins napped happily holding to each other as they did while they were in their mother. They weren't fully asleep at the moment, but kind of half-way between sleep and wakefulness. In their minds, Geoff asked his sister, "Mommy and daddy are nice, aren't they?"

"Yes, they are." Brigitte replied. "We knew they would be, but it was nice to be able to see them now."

"Your right," Geoff responded. "Mommy is very pretty, just like you are."

Brigitte hugged her brother, "Thank you. And your nice like daddy, you'll grow to look like him I think." Then she giggled, "Except he doesn't have a nice tail like you do."

Geoff giggled, "Thank you, you have a nice tail too. I wonder what happened to daddy's? And he doesn't have fur like mommy."

Brigitte grinned, "Well, you don't have much either, maybe it's because your males."

Geoff grinned also, "You could be right, I guess we can ask them once we can talk to them."

Brigitte hugged her brother. "That would be the best idea. But why can't we just talk to them like we're doing now?"

Geoff hugged her back, "I don't know if we can, mommy talked to us like this before, but I'm not sure if we can now. I guess we can try."

She yawned and purred. "I think we should sleep a little more before we eat again. Could you please hold me like before? It helps me sleep better."

Geoff yawned himself as he cuddled up to his sister. "I will, I guess it makes you feel better because we did this for a long time before. But could you please keep you tail out of my ear this time?"

Brigitte giggled, "I'll try, but once I'm sleeping, I have no idea what it's doing."

They both yawned and slowly fell to sleep until it was time to get more of their mothers' wonderful milk.

They were all talking together out in the living room when the doorbell rang. Erik went to get the door and once he opened it, he was engulfed in a bear hug by uncle Geoff.

Erik smiled, "It's good to see you uncle, you to Victoria. Come on in and join the party."

Uncle Geoff laughed, "We were going to wait until tomorrow, but I figured now would be better."

Erik laughed as he led them to the living room, "We've got a full house tomorrow also. But it's good to see you anytime. Your always welcome here."

Katja and the rest got up as they walked in and she ran over to hug her uncle and his mate. "It's so good to see you two. There's ice tea on the table."

Victoria smiled and said, "Well, you sure look good for someone that just had twins. I figured you'd be beat."

Katja laughed as she heard the same thing again. "No, I'm fine. We don't have the aftereffects that humans get apparently. We were discussing that a little while ago." She hugged Erik's arm, "My mate here was sure I was going to be a worn-out furry mess." She giggled, "Granted all the attention he was giving me is nice though."

Erik grinned, "Come, sit down and have something to eat and drink. We just put the kids down for a nap." The he chuckled, "But, if their anything like their mother, they should be awake in another half hour or so."

Katja smiled and hugged his arm. "Well, it's not just me, we're all like that."

Erik smiled back at her, "I know, and they're just as cute as their mother when she naps."

They all sat and uncle Geoff and Victoria grabbed one of the sandwiches. They talked about various things for a while, then Victoria asked, "Have you gotten a lot of work done on your houses?"

Erik and Katja replied no, "This last month, has been mainly staying close to home here. Katja couldn't get around to well, and we didn't want to be to far away, we didn't really know for a fact when the kids were going to be born. What with it being mixed species, we didn't want to take a chance."

Then Katja added, "Now that they're born, we'll take it slow this first month and maybe a little longer. We'll just have to see how things progress."

Uncle Geoff nodded, "That makes sense, you seem to be alright. Like a normal mother afterwards, I mean. You still have time, before you need to move, so... what's the earth term, better safe than sorry."

Erik nodded, "Exactly, all that left is get the bathrooms modified and updated really, between us going out and the guy that's been watching the place for us all the other stuff was done.

Then Tony said, "Ours needs the same thing really, we didn't need as much done as Erik and Kat did to theirs."

Then he smiled, "Erik and I have been thinking and we're going to call up that Mr. Reilly and see if he has anyone who could do it once we get the units. Neither of us trust the guy who will being doing it at the town housing, I'd want to be there the whole time. The younger guy, Reilly, we sort of got along with him."

Cleo had heard when the others came in and since she knew the scent, she ignored it as it was someone who belonged here. She went back to dozing with her sense's tuned to the little ones. Then a little while later, she heard them stirring. Both ears came up and her eyes opened, she yawned and stretched, then hopped down to pad over to the bed thing. It was almost like the thing she had been kept in before she ran away from the bad humans. But she knew it wouldn't be, her humans wouldn't do that to anyone, let alone their little ones. She saw the male was up against one side, and she figured that was why it was like that, so they couldn't roll out of the bed and fall.

Once she got there, she stood on her hind legs with her front paws on the side. She looked through the opening's and saw the male little one looking at her. He was similar to her human, but he had a tail. She thought that was remarkable, she didn't know humans could have such things.

She meowed softy, and put one paw through the opening and patted the little one. She heard him say in her head "Hello, who are you?"

Cleo was a bit startled at that, so she said back, "My human, your father, calls me Cleo."

The little one smiled and purred, then put a small hand out and touched her paw. "That's a nice name, mother and father call me Geoff. You're soft like mother."

Cleo replied, "Yes, we are alike, somehow. I can't explain it."

Then Cleo heard the female say, "Who are you talking to?" The male answered her back, "Cleo, she is part of our family, I think."

Cleo saw the female yawn and stretch much like she had seen Katja and Ariel do. As she watched, Brigitte opened her eyes, and moved slightly so she could see. Then she said to Cleo, "That's a nice name. Why are you here?"

Cleo purred, which made the little one's giggle, then said, "We are all family and since they were hungry and tired, I told your mother and father I would watch over you two, and let them know when you woke up. I will go get them and let them know you are up."

Brigitte and Geoff purred together saying, "Thank you Cleo."

They all talked a little longer, then Cleo came over to the couch and jumped up by Katja, "Katja, the little ones are up and asking for you."

Katja smiled, "Thank you Cleo, I'll just go... wait, what do you mean asking for you?"

Cleo purred, "I heard them in my head, we talked for a little while. We introduced ourselves, then I said I would tell you. I was a bit startled at first."

Katja nodded to her, "So am I. Thank you Cleo for helping." She turned to Erik and said, "Erik, Cleo says the children are up, could you help me please?"

Erik smiled, "Sure kitten." He turned to the others, "Well be right back, the kids are up."

He stroked Cleo, who purred loudly, "Thank you for helping Cleo."

He stood, then he and Katja walked into the bedroom with Cleo following. Katja turned to him and said, "My mate, apparently our children are communicating."

Erik looked at her confused, "But I thought you said they wouldn't for another month or so?"

She shook her head, "They aren't talking aloud, they are talking up here." She touched her temple. "Cleo, told me."

He looked at her stunned, "But how??"

She shrugged, "I do not know, I will try to ask them."

Katja and Erik stood by the crib, and looked down at their two smiling children. She reached down and stroked both they're faces. She thought to them like she did when they were inside her. "Cleo tells me you had a nice talk with her." Then she opened her mind.

Geoff answered her first, "Yes mommy, she is nice and is soft like you." The Brigitte added, "She says we are all family."

Katja smiled at her children, then tickled them under the chin. They giggled and smiled as Katja said, "Yes we are, we are all family. Including the others you met and some more you will meet in a bit." The children smiled hearing that.

Erik smiled himself as he saw his kids smile, Brigitte was like her mother, when she smiled, her whole face got even more beautiful. He hugged Katja one-armed, "Brigitte is like you kitten, when she smiles, she is even more beautiful."

Katja smiled at him, and Erik heard his daughter make some noise that almost sounded like Katja. Or at least he thought she did.

Brigitte frowned and mewed, then Katja heard her say, "Mommy, why won't daddy answer me? Is something wrong?" And at the same time, Erik asked her "Is something wrong kitten?"

Katja stroked Erik's face, "Hold on a second love." Then she thought to Brigitte, "No dear one, there is nothing wrong. Daddy just cannot understand when you tell him like that. Do you remember the other way I talked to you?" Brigitte answered, "Yes."

Katja grinned, "Talked to him that way and he'll understand you love."

Erik stood watching. Then he heard in his mind, a small voice say, "Thank you daddy, I love you."

Erik's mouth dropped open as he heard his daughter for the first time. Then his son, not to be outdone by his theoretically younger sister, by a whole sixty seconds, said, "I love you to daddy."

Tears flowed down Erik's cheeks as he said aloud, "I love you both also. Thank you children."

He reached in to stroke each of them and smiled as the tears rolled down his face.

He turned to Katja, "How is this possible kitten?"

Katja's eyes were bright with tears as she smiled and shrugged, "The Goddess Briast only knows."

Erik's eyes went wide as he understood her meaning. Then she said, "That they can do it is not that much of a surprise, we can and have done it occasionally. What amazes me, is that they are doing it at less than a day old. As I told you, they can understand us, since I've been teaching them the last month. Also, they know both languages, Brigitte thought you were upset because you didn't answer her at first because she spoke in Lyonness. I explained that you don't know the language, so she switched to English. Geoff also spoke in both, but with him we will have to see if he can verbally speak it also."

Erik nodded, "Do you think we should say anything about this yet?"

She shook her head, "Let's wait to see what happens tomorrow"' Then she smiled, "I think we should see what the High Priestess says when Lucy gets here tomorrow. If anyone may know, it might be her."

Erik, grinned, "I believe your right. Let's take them to see their other aunt and uncle. I figure Uncle Geoff is pacing the floor waiting to see his namesake."

Katja grinned as she picked up Brigitte and handed her to her father. Erik cradled her in arms, and kissed her forehead. Little Brigitte purred and smiled at her father, her eyes full of love for him. She snuggled up to him and continued to purr.

Katja smiled as she picked up Geoff, and did the same to him. She thought to him, "I love you my son. Your going to grow up and be just like your father."

Geoff thought back to her. "I love you to mommy. But, what happened to daddy's tail?" Then asked worriedly, "Will I lose mine too when I grow up?"

Katja laughed, "No my love, daddy never had one."

Little Geoff purred, "Okay. I like my tail, I wouldn't want to lose it."

Katja hugged him and kissed his forehead again, "Do not worry my son, you won't, you have very nice tail. Now, we need to take you to meet your uncle."

Erik looked at her questioningly, "What was that all about?"

Katja grinned, her eyes gleaming with laughter, "Your son was concerned, he was worried that he was going to lose his tail like you did when he got older. He likes his tail."

Erik started to laugh, shaking his head as he carried his daughter out to the living room.

Katja, joined him and they walked out together. Katja walked up to uncle Geoff smiling, "Uncle, allow me to introduce you to your namesake." She smiled at little Geoff and said to him, "My son, this is your uncle Geoff, you're named after him. Uncle Geoff, your nephew Geoff."

Geoff looked up at his mother and purred smiling, then he giggled as he looked at uncle Geoff.

Katja watched as their uncle tried to keep the tears out of his eyes as he held his hands out to her. She smiled, and handed little Geoff to him. Geoff cradled his namesake and leaned down to kiss his forehead.

Little Geoff purred again and touched his uncles face lightly. Then he looked at his hand, it was wet. Then Uncle Geoff heard, "Uncle sad? You are crying."

Uncle Geoff's eyes went wide as he looked at Katja, then said to his nephew, "No my nephew, I'm not sad. We sometimes cry when we are happy."

Little Geoff looked confused, "You should laugh when happy, not cry. Crying is for sad."
