Aaron Ch. 21-25

"What have you done now?"

"You need to force Kate's stubborn wolf to sort her shit out before she destroys my mate."

"What? Kate? Why can't I feel or hear Kate?"

"Her wolf has broken from her."

Aaron gave him the full break down and was surprised when Thorn spoke. "Aaron you are far fucking stronger than anyone ever gave you credit for. You did good bro. Real good. When I get back from the hunt Luna and I will come but I think it will be you that brings her wolf back."

"What do I tell Kate?"

"The truth Aaron. She's your mate. You tell her the truth."

"Is she going to hate me again?"

Kate knew Aaron was communicating with someone and assumed it was Thorn. "Is he coming? Does he know what to do to fix me?"

"Katie, your wolf is just processing I swear. I had to discuss some stuff with her as she is in a different place than you and as you know was pushing for what she felt was best. Baby in this case she wasn't willing to bend and she would have continued with her intentions."

"I think she might, she is probably too angry with me to listen to you. Besides, we both need to eat."

"Don't leave me for too long Aaron. I can't call you back. I can't reach out to anyone."

"Kate, I'm only going outside. You call I will hear you. I won't be gone long anyway, I'm only leaving to give you a chance to talk to her. If she chooses not to listen I'll be right back."

"You don't think she'll listen yet?"

"Well she is a stubborn bitch and I know a stubborn fiery redhead that struggles to accept things sometimes." He gave her a kiss as she scowled at him. "I'm hoping the two of you are stubborn enough and strong enough to not give up on us even on the days when it looks pretty bad."

"You can't get rid of me now Aaron." Kate gave him a kiss. "Your fiery mate is ready to go to battle to make this work. Hopefully you bring back a good meal, we'll need to keep up our strength."

Aaron laughed appreciatively as he left the area of the cell and closed the door which had remained open until then. When it clicked shut he spoke to her wolf. "Give her a chance to explain how she feels. Give us a chance my feisty mate. We all need to work together." He was not surprised to leave without a response.

CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE

"You were seriously just going to ignore my thoughts and feelings on this completely and push our mate to breed you? Us?"

Kate paced the cell as she spoke aloud to her hiding wolf. "And now what, because neither he nor I agreed with what you wanted you're just going to abandon me? Leave me forever?"

"You know how scared I was about a forced breeding. You know exactly how worried I am, was, that he doesn't, didn't, really want us..." Kate stopped and took a deep breath. "He is doing everything he can to make me, us, feel loved, safe, and wanted. He is working so hard to be a good man, a good mate for both of us. So why would you think getting bred was more important than everything we were working through together? Why would getting a pup in you, be better than helping our mate find his path, even though we are dreading him being away from us? Better than Aaron getting closer to being the man he wants and needs to be? You were happy to take that away from him? Trap him here with us and parenthood? Would you have kept him in the restaurant and miserable just so he was unable to leave us?"

Kate heard her voice rising but continued, "Well, fuck you bitch. My mate is more important than what you want right now. He should be your priority. Not just pleasing him, but supporting him, giving him our love and support so he can be everything he deserves to be. First, a man with a career and a calling that means something to him and all those he will help. Secondly to be the mate he clearly wants to be. Just like he has been there for his family, his pack and fuck even us, all our lives. Quietly taking care of everyone. Flying under the radar to provide protection, safety and that subtle strength he offers to all of us. Lastly you would force him to be a father now? Placing our children at risk of having a father who will not feel good enough for them. Not be ready to be the father they need. Not to mention a mother who may not survive at all and if I did would never be the mother they should have. A broken mother like my own? Is that what you would wish on our children? Instead of waiting a year or two so they are raised by parents, whether in wolf or human form, that are individually strong, confident and secure in who they both are. Not to mention as a couple totally fucking united, deeply in love and on the same page, able to balance out each other's weaknesses, and elevate each other's strengths, so that they together are everything those children will ever need. This you would be happy to sacrifice just to have your instant gratification?"

"You've made your point. I no longer wish to be bred and you can play this however you want. Clearly you don't need me."

"Kate. I'm assuming you and your wolf have made your peace with each other. Please tell me my brother didn't need to lose his life for that to happen?"

"Don't start apologising." Aaron spoke as soon as he into the safe house. "I don't need to hear an apology from you. I know you were following your instinct and the heat. I didn't want to hurt you but I needed you and Kate to be on the same page." He approached the cell door.

"You may not want to hear my apology but I need to give it. I let my fear push me towards something that would have hurt you and her. I am sorry for that. I am sorry that instead of giving her and you the chance to work through our mating and all that will come I only thought to seek a quick solution. I am pleased Kate and I have worked things out, and I am thankful you are willing to offer me your trust going forward. I will let Kate come forward again now."
